Situated in the Ohtani region, southwest of the main Horizon Festival Japan Site and northwest of Mei’s House, this landmark is one of the 26 static photography locations needed to complete your Discover Japan Collector’s Journal.

Map Location and Driving Directions

Trail Access: Look for a winding gravel trail that branches north off the main road connecting Mei’s House and the Horizon Festival Site. On the map, it’s labeled as the Kinkaku-ji Trail.

Traditional Gates: As you follow the trail, you’ll encounter a pathway flanked by yellow walls and a traditional Japanese gate. This leads into a lush forest and garden area.

Lake View: Continue through the gates to a hidden lake, where the stunning golden temple sits at the water’s edge—a perfect photography backdrop.
